Is this a good camera deal?

Onvia has the Umax Astra Cam for 118.94.
Rebate for 20.00 & 25.00 off 100.00.
Which should equal 73.94.
Should I go for this or wait for a better camera deal?
I would like to be in the 150.00 range.
Has anyone used this camera?
Thanks

Depends what you want it for. It looks OK for emailing photos, but at 640x480 it certainly won't replace your disposable snapshot camera.

I just saw another post where some firm is selling the HP C200 1 megapixel for $199. Spend a little more and get a decent camera, you won't be sorry.

Souka, what's the story on the D-link? It's only $111 at buy.com http://www.us.buy.com/retail/product.asp?loc=225&sku=10258309&PageFormat=1 before coupons and does 1024x768 and has 8mb flash storage. Besides the 30 fps webcam. Thanks for the heads up on it.

After edit:

Never mind, answered my own question. http://64.7.207.145/products/usb/dsc350/SpecsTable.htm

The d-link advertised specs is a lie. It interpolates to 1024x768, only 350k pixels. True 640x480. And the d-link uses the cheaper CMOS chips, the umax uses CCD which is far superior.

I have the Umax model that comes with the USB Cradle ($119?) Cool thing about the more expensive model is that the USB cradle allows you to download pictures by pressing the cradle button. The interface, I admit, is sweet! Just like a Palm!! =) The picture quality is okay. The higher-end Logitech webcams usually take a better picture.

4x6 Reprints of the JPEG using the Ofoto.com service looked okay. But if you plan to do this often, I would go with a 1 megapixel camera at least. This camera would be good for posting pictures on the web. If you reduce the picture from 640x480 to 320x240, they look better. If you want, I have hardly used one for sale... =)

Thanks,
Sun :D

Email me on a price for your used one.
oldcycles@columbus.rr.com

I checked out the umax 1000 and it has almost all the same features but the astra comes with rechargable batteries and the cradle is a charger so it looks like that is the better way to go.

I just want this for pics on e bay and some other simple things till I can buy a real camers like the 990. :)

Has anyone ever seen this camera cheaper?
Thanks

Its a question.

As the mod would say:

The deal part is not a question.
The question part was should I go for it.
I did not see anyone else post this deal.
I think 73.00 for a dig cam is a good deal.
Would you be happy if I edit my post and then ask the question down in the thread?
I think your spliting hairs and should find something else to do.
