Just go with what pleases your eyes. When I bought my projection TV about 6 years ago, I went into the store with the idea I'd get a Sony because of the reputation. When I git there, I stood back about 20 feet so that I couldn't see the brands and just startred watching TV. They were all side by side. The image I liked the best turned out to be a Toshiba, 2nd was Mitsu, and Sony was 3rd. I got the Toshiba.

Any well known brand name will do, I don't think they put out junk because the competition is ferocious and with the return policys being so consumer friendly, a POS brand wouldn't last too long.

* Tip: Get as big as you can afford....in projection TVs there is no such thing as too big. And don't compare a proj. TV to a Cathode one...the Tube will always win.

True... Read reviews and see what you like best. The sales people usually tend to listen to what you like and try to sell you that...or they sell you what they have in the store if the selection is limited. Do research on particular models and go with a brand that has a good track record for long lasting electronics. We got a Hitachi 46" screen in 1991 at my parents' house...they still watch that same TV and it looks new.

Whatever you buy, make sure that it is HDTV-ready and has an aspect ratio of 16/9. If it's HDTV-ready, it will more than likely have a component hookup for your DVD player as well.
