Is this a driver issue?

Got 32bit Vista Ultimate and nvidia 7800GTX.
Playing a mpeg video in media player 11 and after about 15 seconds or so the whole screen turns to green and black checkered pattern. Unable to ctrl-alt-del and have to cycle the power on the pc.
Is this a driver problem or possibly a codec problem?
I'm using 100.65 nvidia drivers.
Anyone have any insight? Driving me crazy not able to play my mpegs.

Thanks

Urgh that sounds disturbing - does it do the same if you play mpegs in a different player? Is it only mpegs?

Might want to check the clockspeeds the card is running at & also make sure the cooling fan is working ok ... the last time I had issues like that the fan on my 6800GT had frozen up & the card was over-heating.

Well I think it may have a been an driver issue. I uninstalled my 100.65 drivers and did a driver cleaner and let vista detect the video card and install the default drivers and it's doing fine now. Guess I will wait awhile before updating the drivers again.
