Hmmmm my Q6600 idles at 29C (But it is winter) and hits 52C load after 4 hours of prime (4 instances), mind you I have been very lucky with the voltage requirements, possibly because it's one of the later ones.

Good temps anyhow !

Very much what I am getting currently Q9550 on an Asus P5K-E running 3.41 GHz. When I do encoding and all 4 cores get pretty jacked up, after a good night's run my temps are around 51-52 max using Real Temp. It's a great chip my friend.

I am flabbergasted. I just bought this from microtech because I though I fried my Q6600. When I got home and redid all the wiring, it worked again. So, I tested the Q9550 and was amazed. Can we do more with air cooling?

My Q9450 @ 3.4 has the approx same temps that you show. However, I use RealTemp for my readings. What voltage do you have it set at in bios and what is the droop?

I get about 50C at load with a Q6600 @ 1.4v. Higher voltage and hotter chip so it's definitely possible. Like Clarkey01 said, use realtemp or coretemp. Make sure your TJmax is set to 100C in either program you use. I think it's 100C in Coretemp by default but I could be wrong...

its probably accurate. my e0 Q9550 @ 3910 1.27V runs about 10C cooler than my Q9450 @ 3600 1.24V. Air cooled Zalman 9700.

You should include the cpu frequency, voltage, room temperature and additional components inside the computer case

that goes for everyone

I noticed the OP has 23.6C room temp listed but he also has the Q6600 in his sig so I have no idea if that is his current temps.

I'm idling at 41C right now which sounds high but not when you consider that my room temp is currently 34C with a 9600GT and 3 hard drives in the case (3.166GHz E7200, 1.125V, stock hsf)

The room temp is room temp. 72f. The voltage is 1.35, its set at 1.37 in the bios. The hsf is a scythe Ninja. Once again, has intel released the max temps for these yet?

Under no load the temps are 34,27,35,30
under full load they are anywhere between 45 and 55.

Here is all the info I can give you in a pic. No the differences in temps from real temp and speedfan. Also note that CPU-Z will not recognize the 8.5 multiplier.
