Is this a decent printer? Samsung ML-2855ND

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4417635&CatId=244

Was wondering if anyone had any experience with this printer? I don't print very much at all, but thought it might be a decent printer to have around the house. On the very rare occasion I do need to print something, I don't have any printer at all, and need something.

What do you folks think? Any better options for around the same money or less?

Thanks in advance.

I have the ml-2851nd so I can't speak for your model specifically, but I've been really happy with mine. All my documents look nice and crisp, I love being able to print duplex cause it saves me paper on my notes for college. In addition I leave it on toner saver all the time and it still looks great, but I can print more pages per toner.

I have a 5 year old ML-2010 that is just the older version of that model and that refuses to die. My girlfriend (now wife) used this printer throughout college to print out textbooks she would buy in PDF so that tells you right there how much of a workhorse samsung lasers are. Best buy was clearing out the toner for it for $15 a pop one day so needless to say we have enough toner for the printer until the end of time but now we have a fancier all-in-one laser Canon that gets more use.

You really can't go wrong with Samsung lasers.

Edit: Now that I saw the specs of the one you linked you are better off with that one because of the double sided printing and bigger paper capacity.

I've got one of the ML-2851's, too, and after three years I've just had to replace the toner cartridge. But I bought it at Staples when they were clearing them out for $60 and toner carts. for $20.

But, it works and works and works without any issues at all. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another Samsung laser.

I wouldn't prefer samsung from printers. Hp has good market hand on it and its multi-functional printers are good at affordable rates.

I'm sporting a Samsung ML-1710 basic laser printer that is close to a decade old. It was a "hot deal" cheap laser printer BITD for $80 AR, back when the cheapest HP was probably $200+. I'm still on the original print cartridge, now on third refill. Sure, printing isn't super dark and there's some banding, but can't beat paying $100 ($80 printer, $20 for bunch of refills) for a decade's worth of printing. My wife used it through grad school, and so did I (our grad school did not overlap). Rough estimate is probably 20-30 reams run through it over that decade.
