Hi everyone, I'm coming back for more of your expert opinions.

I have a friend who only has Mac's but her son needs a PC. He uses it mostly to surf the web and play various online games like MineCraft and other similar online free games.

They want to buy from an B&M local store so they can get technical help as necessary.

They will be getting an extended warranty as well so they do not have to worry about it and also since they are not technically savvy, they feel more comfortable getting it from a retail store near them.

With all that, they have found a Dell - Studio XPS Desktop / Intel® Core™ i5 Processor / 6GB Memory / 1TB Hard Drive at a local Best Buy on sale for $749.

Do you think this PC is a decent purchase for their son? He'll be a Freshman at HS next year.

Appreciate any feedback - I think this links to the PC in question.

Thx!

No, it's not a decent PC for the price. No discrete video, no USB 3.0. That system is worth perhaps $500. The only thing modern about it is the CPU.

If you're going to buy a Dell, why not buy it direct from Dell? Dell manufacturer's warranty is far better than whatever crap that BB shovels. The base Inspiron 620 is a good place to start.
