Is this a decent deal on a 9600XT?

System:
Sempron 2400 on ECS KT600 mobo
512mb PC2700 DDR
120gb 7200
nVidia MX4000 64mb

Have an offer for a Saphire 9600XT 256mb (believe is 128bit) with Arctic5 AGP for $100 delivered. Couple questions.

1. Should I experience significant performance benefit?
Games I play: WC3, EA Battle for Middle Earth....want to try WoW.
Use system as DVD player in bedroom.

2. Is $100 decent, I checked on eBay/pricewatch etc, and it seems that the 128mb 9600xt's are going from between $100-$130.....seemed ok.

3. This is my first video card upgrade, is there anything in particular I should be careful/aware of?

Much thanks for any advice.

Aryeh,

$100 is a decent price. It seems they are often $15-30 more. As far as what you want to use it for. It would seem to be enough video power...though I don't know the needs of B of middle Earth. If devine graphics are not your primary concern...you can also turn down some of the most power hungry settings! FYI, recenlty PC gamer gave an example rig using a 9600XT is its bottom line rig, which was mated with a AMD 64 3200+. Good luck...G

The core and mem speeds should be 500/600 for a 9600XT. I would make sure they aren't giving you one with 400mhz ram. It would be a lot slower and not really a true 9600XT.

They sometimes use slower ram when they put that useless extra 128MB on such a video card.
