Nope, I'm not set on any one thing.
I just put this together at Monarch computers. I'll check and see if they have the ones you suggested, and read up on them. :)

How is XP Pro different from the home edition? :)

I'm not an expert but it has support for multiple monitors and Remote Desktop for one thing. :) It's mainly business/corporate geared though..

get an ABIT NF7-S (version 2.0 with nforce 2 ultra 400) - it's one of the best.

what kind of hsf are you using?
for $6 you dont get much of a hsf

personally i like ones that use 80mm or 92mm fans (they cool better and they are much quieter then a standard 60mm fan)

i like thermalright hsf's the most i currently use an slk800, but the new slk900 is what i would buy if i needed a new hsf today

Well I actually did it, and let him know. He's very happy.
It'll be an early xmas present, since it's expected to arrive sometime this month.
We're salvaging the graphics & sound card plus some RAM from his old machine. I'm actually not sure what the Deluxe version of the MBoard really adds, but the price was OK, so...
