Is this a decent 3dMark2001se score?

3575 - I just ran the program for the 1st time. I am running a 1.7ghz celeron, 512mb 2100 ddr, with a MX440 pci (no AGP), with nothing overclocked. I know high-end systems can get around 10,000, but considering my hardware, is this decent? Thanks for any input.

That sounds about right with a GF4MX PCI. It would seem that your biggest bottleneck for gaming would be your video card, your CPU and RAM are pretty good.

3DMark is a horrible benchmark. What are your game scores? Thats what matters.

I've never really understood 3dmark, I have a 1.3ghz machine, with a gf4 4200 128mb card, the game demos all get above 100fps (nature might be in the 80's) and my score is like 5000. I don't put too much stock in my 3dmark score most times

i have similar specs and i get close to 8500

i always thought average was around 7k

no such thing as an average score...any system can get any score, even when game frame rates are where they should be. Don't worry about it.

Yeah, I don't put much weight in 3DMark. I'll put weight in UT2k3 and WC3 - but best of all, my YupMark.

Does it play fast? Yup.
Does it play smooth? Yup.
Does it look good? Yup.

p4 2.6ghz 1gig pc2100 ddr, ati mobility 64meg audio, dual 40gig hd's (5400 rpm) those are what is holding this thing back... 16" lcd ect...

3dmark really is a crappy test on your system, as long as it looks decient in the games you play then your alright... if your just going to be playing counterstrike or tfc, you system is plent.
