Is this a counterfeit Samsung 850 EVO?

A Samsung 500GB 850 EVO SSD arrived this morning and something seems a little off to me. The Samsung Magician software in Windows shows the drive as non-Samsung, and Mac disk utility is the same. Disk is straight out of the box, not initialized, not formatted. Should it be showing Initio Inic-3609 or is that just the controller card or similar? My 256GB 840 PRO shows as a Samsung SSD in disk utility.

you hoked it over the usb enclosure, or some other usb stuff?

I didn't actually think of that - it is connected using a dock that came with an Atomos Ninja Blade.

Yeah, sounds like the interface card in the Ninja Blade is hiding its identiity. Hook it straight through SATA and see what happens..
