Is this a case of racial profiling?

The only black FL state attorney was pulled over by two white cops after leaving an all black university. Her plate supposedly didn't return any results and her window tint level was questioned. This is the same person who refused to seek the death penalty earlier in the year for a cop killer. If she did nothing wrong and was pulled over because of her association with a mostly black educational institution this is definitely racial profiling.

If those two were following her around looking for an opportunity to harass her then this is stalking and police abuse of power which needs to be addressed in the proper venue to stop a recurrence of it. Either way I suspect that this action was conducted with ill intent and should be investigated and addressed by the police commissioner's office.

Running plates is not an unusual thing. If they did in fact run it and it did in fact come back unattached, then a stop is valid. Our systems here logged when a plate was run. I am pretty certain theirs would as well to validate if that is what happened.

It might be worth doing a check to find out why her plate didn't return any results. Deleting records on their plate sounds like a really effective way to harass someone now that I think about it.

My response is not really in relation to this actual story, but what an easy story to write for click bait. "Black person leaves all black university and gets pulled over. Must be racial profiling" The story kind of writes itself really lol

“What was the tag run for?” Ayala asks. The officer tells her that it’s routine to run plates.

“That’s how we figure out if cars are stolen,” the officer says.

As he begins to explain that Ayala’s windows are “really dark” as another reason for the traffic stop,

Officer - "Black person driving car with tinted windows must be guilty of something. Lets do a stop and see what we can find. Getting bored"
(Walks up to window and sees the suit.)
Officer - meh. Great. It's one of THESE people. Will need to bullshit our way through this. Maybe we can use the "swerved in lane" or improper signal. Maybe the tinted window line. If she's uppity will get her worked up and then have some fun
Ayala - 'I’m the state attorney'

Officer (sh1t sh1t sh1t sh1t sh1t sh1t- Um license plate ...use the license plate thing ....um). -- "Uh derpa derp license plate accidentally itself ...derp? (crap....thats not gonna work). "Window tint is too dark!!"....(Oh f#$k...was that racist to say dark?)

Ayala - "“You guys have cards on you?”"

Officer 1 - (craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap on a cracker)
Officer 2 - (F**************%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%K!!!! I'm gonna kick officer 1's ass later.)

I love how flustered the cop becomes after she says shes a state's attorney and asks for their cards.

Also, how can he be sure if her window tint is in violation if he doesnt have the tool to determine that? People get stopped a lot for this bogus shit in Michigan. I dont understand how you can ticket someone for an assumption that their window tint is too dark.

She is quoted admitting that her windows were tinted. While that isn't a reason for a stop, because it's legal, it does tend to undermine any implication that she was stopped because she was black or a state's attorney. They wouldn't have been able to see her.
