Is this a bit overkill?

I know the 3500+ is a good processer. But im paring it with a geforce 6800gt (hopefully) or a X800XL. Is it a bit overkill? Im not going to upgrade the processer for a while and theres no overclocking being done. Any input is appreciated.

what are you using your computer for?

if its for gaming, with the video card no...

No, it is not overkill. Go for it.

 
Donno how to overclock and im spending a too much money on this to screw around with it. no overclocking is being done until they really show their age. Hopefully thats gonna be a long time away =D

The 3500+ is actually better for you if you don't overclock. And you've got my setup! Hooray!

man i have the newcastle 3500+ and i am planning to get an X700 or 6600GT and then i'll leave the system as it is till it dies, next system in five years for me
