Is this a bad idea? Re: body work on my car

basically, my car (1993 accord) got hit... insurance is going to give me $2500 (another option would be to have them total the car and recieve $4000). i don't really think it's worth it to drop that kind of money on my car. even if it was returned to factory conditions, it'll draw a few "ooh's & ahh's", but i rather have money in my pocket. i was looking at craigslist at some cars and some two postings offering to do body work. one guy quoted me $400 and another guy quoted me $300. you think these are the same guys that drive around parking lots asking to fix cars? if so, do you think it would be worth it for me to give them a few hundred bux and bang out and paint the damages on my ride?

edit - saw an ad at a local store today for a 95 accord ex with 148k for $3200 (neg). called them up and gonna check out the car at 6:30. i guess i might just total the care after all. i'm gonna miss this thing.... mechanically solid as a rock. cosmetically, the automotive equivalent of sandra bernhard

On that car - spending any money on the body is a waste of money...

rip off anything thats sticking out, and cruise around in the thing as it sits...

i dont want to spend a big amount on it, but i think something has to be done. with the winter coming up, rust will be developing fast. that, and also, the front passenger door opens like 4 inchs now.
