Is this 9700pro a good buy?

excellent!

EDIT: it doesnt come with a power cord, i'm sure newegg sells these but I dont know where to look. soemone please point me in the right direction.

I'm tempted myself (I currently have a ti4200). We know how this will perform w/ Doom 3 and Halflife 2. Any other engines we need to worry about in the next year or two? If I'm cool w/ 1024x768 and no AA, should this hold me for a while?

the 9700 pro's source of power is a floppy power cable, look for a Y splitter, with one of those as an end.

There is the Unreal 3 engine coming out in the next few years, but from what I have heard, 6800 Ultras get ~30 fps in it. So it will crush any card on the market today.

9700pro is imo the best buy on the vid card market today. Go for it.

Nice price. FYI, I believe Allstarshop still offers a new, retail version for $163 (and a new, retail 9700 for $150).
