I have built about 15 computers in the last few months and never had a problem but..................
I recently built a computer with the following:
Epox 8KHA+
Crucial DDR
Athllon 1ghz Thunderbird
Enlight case with 300 watt ps
ATI video card

I thought the motherboard was defective because it kept giving me a ram error. I boxed it up and then thought, I will try one more time. I did that and it booted. It ran for about a week and then windows me would not boot all of a sudden. I thought I might have a virus so I reinstalled windows. After 20 mins it would not boot either. Then I went throught the process again. This time a new problem came up. The computer would not boot to the floppy even though the floppy was the first boot device in the bios. I had to clear the bios to get the floppy to even come up. I upped the voltage and the ram voltage and loaded the cmos defualts this time too. I could not even load the via drivers without the computer locking up.

This computer was for a friend. I have the same motherboard and have no problems at at. I guess it could be something else like the hard drive or the crucial ram but it just does not seem likely. What do you guysthink? What would be another choice for another brand of a DDR motherboard? It seems like there are a lot of problems with these motherboards.

Uh, I guess that Newegg showing them in stock for $105 is just a fluke then? I have built six machines with the 8KHA+ and I have another four friends who have built machines with this board. None of us have had any problems with them. There are always going to be bad boards out there, but I think the situation has gotten blown out of proportion due to user error.

I would test the memory in your board and see if you have the same problems. Maybe consider switching out the hard drive cable. You could also try switching power supplies and see if that fixes the stability problems. Try the hard rive in your rig since you have the same motherboard. Basically it comes down to eliminating all possibilities but the motherboard. If you are really up to it, you could always put the CPU in your board and see if it runs stable.

Good luck,

Matt

I completely agree with fenrir. This is a great board and I'm inclined to believe there's a lot of user error when setting these up. I've seen similar problems, especially with Epox boards and many times it's power supply related.

I'm getting ready to order another one of these boards from Newegg (yes, they still sell them) for a friend.

Try reseat the RAM or seat the RAM in different slot. How much RAM u have...1 stick of 512 MB RAM ?

I dunno which rev u have...but try flashed to the latest bios. It solved some booting probs.
