I think so. I had the 09 model, the PN50B540 and just upgraded to the PN59D550. I am very impressed with both sets and think the Samsung 5xx series Plasmas are one of the best values in TVs out there. The 550 is essentially the same TV as the D7000 and D8000 minus the Antiglare filter so they are reflective. The 530 also lacks 3D but I believe it is the same as the 550 except for that.
Personally I prefer the more natural picture of a Plasma but the LED/LCDs should be brighter and offer more vibrant colors.

I usually compare store prices to online, i.e. Amazon.com, to see if it's a fair price. In this case, the price is the same.

My parents have a Samsung plasma like this one. Fantastic TV. Everything looks great on it. For $800, you really can't go wrong. It being 1080p is a bonus, since a lot of sub-$1000 sets in that size range all seem to be 720p.
