Is thier anything you can put on CV boots to help keep them from cracking?

Silicone spray perhaps?

 

Any rubber preservative will work just fine, the boots are made out of a combination of natural and synthetic rubber along with low temperature stiffness inhibiters.

I wouldn't use anything very sticky like thick grease. I don't think it'd be good to have a bunch of dirt and debris build up on them.

 

Oil and grease will attack the rubber causing accelerated deterioration.

Living where I do in Alaska, CV boots get replaced far more often than they do in other parts of the country. A relative of mine got a car that had some specifically engineered for arctic conditions, though, and drove that car for many years without having to get them replaced. I wish I knew who had made them. 🙁

Negative, silicone is not a preservative, it is a lubricant and water displacer.

The only one I know of is Zymol, but I'm not sure if that will work for CV boots or not.. it's technically for the seal rubber around doors,etc.

 

That's fine Eli, as long it does not contain silicone and it states it is a rubber preservative.
