Is there such thing as UV poisoning? or was it the AC?

Yesterday I wanted to get some tan so I mowed the lawn with my shirt off for 2 hours. This was only two hours and I was feeling completely fine during and after the job. I am 22 yrs old and I've engaged in much worse physical situations before. (I used to be in cross country back in HS) However, when I was just lounging in my room with the AC all the way to the max, I found myself start to get nauceous with headache. It was the kind of headache that made me feel like puking if I were to move my head.

Three hours later, I went to Legal Seafood with my friends and enjoyed the amazing dinner. After I was done the symptoms started get worse and worse. Finally I went to the bathroom and puked everything out... It was so painful. My body was convulsing and jerking real hard, I thought my stomach was gonna collapse while puking.

30 mins later, I also had dihareea. (sp) I came home, drank some water and I passed out. Today I feel completely fine. What was the problem?

*Was it the sudden exposure to the sun for two hours? It was in the middle of the day but I've been under sun way longer than that before.
*Was it the AC? I've heard somewhere that AC is not healthy for you, especially when you sudden come into a cool room from hot outdoors
*I doubt it was the food. Three of my friends ordered the same entree and they're completely fine.

I'm curious, what's up?

Yes, there is such a thing as UV poisoning (or something similar to that.) Not sure if that's what got you sick though.

yea but heat exhaustion occurs when you don't drink enough water.

I don't think I drank enough water but my body never told me I was thirsty. What's up with that?

*My body never told me I was thirsty
*I was feeling fine.
*Stupid body decides to give me hell later without notice? wtf?

I suffered Dehydration and not once did I feel as though I needed to drink anything. Luckily I chose to go the hospital because I was not feeling well.

yea doesn't heat exhaustion occur when you're not provided with water when your desperately thirsts for water?

My body never told me I was thirsty. What's up with that?

*I never had any kind of thirst during/after mowing the lawn
*I was feeling fine.
*Stupid body decides to give me hell later without notice? wtf?

The feeling of thirst is not a reliable indicator of your level of hydration.

You're right. I'm just curious as to how our body works. When does the body decide to feel thirsty then? This is messed up.

It's also usually too late by the time you start to feel thirsty anyway. Best course of action is to simply drink plenty of water all the time, and drink before you even begin physical activity.

Sometimes you don't feel thirsty until you're on the verge of heat stroke. Try to drink a fair amount of water when you're working in the sun, like 12 oz an hour or so.
