Is there such thing as an SMS base station?

Cellular text messaging is a great way to leave short and discreet messages when talking isn't always an option. What I'm wondering is if anybody has developed a product compatible with SMS or text messaging that serves as a "base station" that you can use at home with a large screen display.

This product would be very useful to me and my family, and I know I would purchase at least 3.

i've never heard of anything like that. if your pc has bluetooth, you can use a little msft program to send SMS messages though. however the response comes only on the phone.
