LSD is pretty harmless - in terms of lasting effects.. as long as you're not a girl or a wussy guy.

It takes nearly 5000 doses to actually overdose on LSD.. but I wouldn't recommend more than 200 microdrops. (1/2 - 1 dose)

But, I will warn you, once you take it, you'll never look at things the same. You'll learn a totally new way of looking at things.

It's a neato drug. But, because of today's society, it is considered poisoner than anything else.

Eh.. This is no recommendation to go out and take it. Only know that I have enjoyed it.

While I agree that LSD is cool if u can take it is in no way harmless - physically yes but mentally, hell no. You learn a new way of looking at things while u are "on". If u still have that look on things maybe because u never got "off"
;)

or maybe it just opens you to a new way of thinking. i love to think about interesting things such as politics, religion, space, the universe itself, dimensions, time, etc. its all VERY interesting and it has always interested me. just smoking pot has made me able to think about those things in even more varied ways than i would normally. it just opens you to a new side of things, which imo is always good.

It can show you just how constructed our view of the world is, which can be a very mind-expanding experience, or it can throw you over the deep end. Use caution.

however, the debated side affects of lsd have always kept me away from it. everyone says something different, and i'm not honestly sure whether i consider it safe. at the moment i really dont.

If it scares you, don't take it. You definately want to be in the right frame of mind (set) and in a supportive place (setting) before taking LSD. BTW, what "side effects" are you concerned about?

wow, some really interesting responses on this post.

I'm definitely not interested in taking it but LSD sounds totally facisnating. I've heard of stories where people took this stuff and went waaay of the deep end. However I did'nt realize that it was really the mind that could'nt handle what the user was experiencing. How does this drug work, does it some how affect or lower the brains normal safeguard of whats real and whats not? Again I repeat I'd be to chicken to experiment with LSD but I'll be damn if that does'nt sound like some interesting stuff.

Is Sex a Drug?

I dare you to make a topic of this. :p

This is 2003, sex isn't safe.
It can be.

By your reply you seem to be agreeing that sex IS a drug . . . (?)

Well, as Brian Ferry said, "Love is the drug and I need to score!"

I get high on life everyday. that and an ice cream sandwich.

Ice cream headache'll kill you :D

well, first THC ain't water soluble - it dissolves in fat. Hence when eating it u make greasy things like brownies and the like - best way is to first make some Marihuana or Hashish butter and then use that for cooking. 2nd - dont boil it e.g. dont make the butter too hot, THC desintigrates starting at around 70ºC.
I dont know if a lethal dose exsists but the best way to achieve that would be: breaking into the safes of the BAYER AG and steal some cristalline artificially synthesized THC - its like a white powder...

What in this world is completely safe and without side effects? Every single thing you consume has some negative side effect.

I've never taken LSD but I have taken some extremely high doses of another psychedelic, and the experience can be very spiritual. You will experience things and feelings that will change the way you view your mind and spirituality. To make many long stories short, I found that the things I learned are all outlined by the psychologist Carl Jung. I read him after I had formed my theories, and he's right on the money (and much more articulate than I am). I'm not the only "experienced" person who thinks along those lines... There's a book called "tripping: an anthology of true-life psychedelic adventures" that catalogs these changing experiences that people have. After a while you start to see patterns develop.

Ditto for getting high on life. I'm a thrill seeker which is typically cheaper than illicit drugs but does have occasional hazards.

As for the safest recreational drugs, the best places to look are cultures which live in balance with their environment. South American tribes that chew coca leaf,North American tribes on the THC and/or tobacco peace pipe, North American tribes with old school peyote, and Pacific Islanders who chew or make teas from kava kava are all excellent examples of how you can get a buzz, groove, trip, or chill out on an occasional basis and suffer few if any health consequences.

I would argue that LSD is safer than peyote or shrooms, given the minute amounts involved with acid. You can die from taking too many shrooms or the wrong ones.

yeah, although both shrooms and peyote can make you throw up if you take too much. people with iron stomachs could eat more than their bodies can handle, i suppose (they've never made me feel ill). i can tell you that with high doses of one of those two, you can physically feel that you've been poisoned. it's similar to an extremely high fever, although i don't know if body temperature actually changes.

I wanted to be brief but of course that allows far too much room for assumptions. I am endorsing the use of mind altering substances consistent with cultures that integrate such practices responsibly into society. Alcohol doesn't qualify b/c it has a tremendous record for abuse. Coca leafs, kava kava, AND peyote are much better than cocaine, benzodiazepines, and LSD b/c of how they are used by native peoples . . . ie low dose and low frequency.

LSD and crystal methamphetamine have tremendous single use morbidity potential . . . doing it once at "safe" dosages can result in permanent injury. You don't tailor public policy based on how bad an idiot might hurt themselves b/c there's no safety margin wide enough for the idiot. The limited exposure morbidity from agents like LSD/X and addiction potential of agents like cocaine/heroin demands a much higher degree of restriction (if not prohibition) than agents like alcohol, tobacco, and MJ. On a much lower level you would have agents like coca leafs and kava kava.
