is there such a thing call IDE to sata cable?

I am asking this because most of the Core 2 Duo enable motherboard only got like 1 ide slot for the cd/dvd rom. Right now i still got 2 seagate ide drive that is running very well. I choose Asrock 775 dual vista because it is cheap and better or all it got 2 ide slot.

Is there such a thing that will allow you to connect ide driver to SATA slot?
 
I don't believe that it is possible to connect in the fashion that you want, but you can get a controller card that will allow you to connect these drives via a PCI slot.
 
I think of the pci card idea too, but with most the of the new mobo only giving people 3 pci slot, there is not much room to expend. A Tv tuner card, a ide controller card and a sound card would havwe taken all most then 3 slot room most mobo give you. And most device i used don;t like a pci device right next to it.
 
The lack of PCI slots is why I still use AGP. However, I do recall a MSI PCIe motherboard with 5 PCI slots, although the last one was dedicated to WIFI.
 
I've used them. They were Abit branded and called Seriall. :laugh:

Worked very well, no problems with speed or stability. The downside is each drive will need a floppy type power connector along with its regular power connector.
 
Kind of funny that most fo the good core 2 duo board like ds3 only got 1 IDE slot while brand like asrock and ECS got like 2.
 
Be careful with all of these different adapters. Alot of them wont work with Optical drives correctly, esp dvd burners..

Stick with the adapters that are using the Jmicron chipset on them.
 
I read the question again and again - my sense is that she wants to connect and IDE (PATA) drive to a SATA port. If so - it is simple - I've done it with this adapter:

PATA to SATA

Also, I did not read that she was talking about optical drives - simply a PATA HDD to a SATA port.
