obviously for US voice plan, you will be roaming when you go to Canada.
what about data? if you have an unlimited data plan, how do they bill it?

check with AT&T? I am assuming it's GSM? Rogers is the only GSM provider up here so prepare to be reamed. I am pretty sure roaming charge still applies.

Your best bet is to contact AT&T. Where abouts are you visiting?

found a quib on here about the at&t charges in Canada.

AT&T's monthly data cost is $60, which includes as much data as you want, unless it comes from Canada, in which case you pay $0.015 per kilobyte over 5 GB, or from international sources, and for that you pay $0.0195 per kilobyte over 5 GB.

humm, not very clear is it? what the hell is "comes form Canada"

I have T-Mobile and with the unlimited data plan, it only covers within the USA. If you travel abroad, there is a roaming charge for data. It was $15 for 1MB of data.

You should check with AT&T.

There is 3G on Rogers on Toronto. I have an AT&T plan from the states and it will work fine in Toronto but be prepared for expensive data charges. I did it a couple years ago on GSM and racked up about $30 of charges for just checking email while on a business trip. You should check with AT&T.

probably cheaper to just use an internet cafe. Like I said, Rogers (and AT&T) will ream you.

PS Welcome to Big Smoke.

Everyone I know automatically switches to the Rogers network when they come up from the US.
