Hmm, I'd say so. A lot of non-mainstream stuff has that sort of vibe to it. I've called it crunk rap before... I'll look up some songs to suggest in a minute.

I doubt it. Most rap is created under the influence of crack or really terrible pot, not LSD or shrooms.

Try looking for De La Soul's first album, here's a quick list from the top of my head


De La Soul - 3 Feet High and Rising
A Tribe Called Quest - People's Instinctive Travels
Pharcyde - Bizarre Ryde
Digable Planets - Reachin (kind of a beatnik/jazz inspired album )
Some early Hieroglyphic records also fall into that category (Check for Del, Souls of Mischief, PepLove, etc..)

an interesting fact: 3 feet high and rising is the first time ever a hip hop 'skit' was used on a hip hop album.

I wonder why I have all of those albums...:D

with that said...Buhloone Mindstate is prob my favorite album by De La Soul.
