Is there such a thing as an accessory for cooling your monitor?

My room is probably around 31 deg C right now and even hotter in the day time. I've monitored my computer temp and the chassis seems to stay below 45deg with the CPU probably around 50-60 or more. That's a little high but not too too bad. However the monitor I'm using, a 30" DELL flat panel, is becoming a space heater for this room. The top of the monitor is uncomfortably hot to the touch. Is there such a thing as a dedicated monitor fan or something?

You could buy a small desk fan and blow it at the back of the monitor. Other than that, I'm not sure.

I have a 2408WFP and it has the same issue. This room actually never used to get this hot until I added the monitor.

Glue a heatsink to your monitor.

But yeah a deskfan would be your best option.

You do realize that even if you put a better cooling solution on the monitor, it will still cause the room to heat up just as much?

It's a perfectly good idea to cool the monitor, but if you're trying to stop it from making you sweat you'd have to figure out a place to move all that heat :p

Yes but the fan will help push it out of the room... as long as its not blowing towards a corner.

Must be a plasma, as I don't think LCDs put out that much heat.. As was said above, a desk fan or similar will move the heat, but not remove it.

you would be surprised how much heat a 24 inch or larger panel can put out in back. sure, it's less than a CRT, but it's still enough that you can feel it on some of them, and on a 30 inch it's probably generating even more than the 27.5 inch TN i have here now. my friend's samsung 24 inch TN was actually hotter though believe it or not.

The fan should be used to bring cool air into the room. Ignore the monitor - it will create heat no matter what you do to it (other than turn it off).

Technically it would cause the room to rise in temperature (provided it is a closed system) because the fan generates heat.

What do you have the brightness set at? I put mine at about 50% and the heat output is fairly minimal.
