Is there such a thing as a SLOT1 to FC-PGA converter?

To allow secc2 PIII Katmai CPUs or PIII Coppermine CPUs to work in socket 370 MOBOs?

A lot of older CPUs could find new temporary homes, until finances allow for a CPU upgrade.

Given that Slot1 MOBOs are on their way out. Thanks.

I'll third it :)
But it is pretty amusing if you imagine what a thing like that would look like if it existed, hehe :)

Physically its not possible the wieght that would be hanging from those little pins would be enormous.

Surely they could make some kind of retention mechanism to alleviate the weight on the pins.

Hey Goi, I was thinking the exact same thing!!

It would be a pretty ugly beast. Perhaps if they juiced the fan up some, it could provide some lift to alleviate stress on the pins! hehe

Plio's got the right idea though. Like some sort of hammock suspended from the CD-ROM or something. ha

Maybe I should patent one... with a built-in voltage regulator to boot... Hmmm

I have seen the Slot-1 to PPGA converters. They are a rather strange looking oddity. Don't know if they came in the FC-PGA convertors.

Hey MadRat!

Do you recall where you saw that adapter or who makes it?

Thx

I believe there were ones by both Abit and Powerleap.
Saw them at a local computer fair.

btw - they look like S370 cpu with a SECC female connector on top. They were only going for $20 apiece, but I didn't have any use for them at the time. Probably worth a mint just from their novelty aspects. :D
