Is there such a thing as a 'cheap' copy of Win 7?

This query is for a my upcoming fresh install of Win 10 Home or Pro x64. I don't have an eligible version for the free upgrade to Win 10. In an effort to save $$, I looked online and copies of Win 7 are anywhere from $30-60. Anyone have a experience with a legit purchase for such cheap costs? This is so I don't have to spend ~$100 first for the full Win 10 OEM DVD.

Yeah I was thinking let's say if I bought a copy of Windows 7 for about $50 and it turned out to be fake. Then I would have to buy a copy of Windows 10 for about $100. So in the end it would really cost me $150. That's probably what would happen trying to save $50. I'll just pay the $100 and do it right the first time and have it be legit.

With above code + the waive of the returns, you can get it down to $72.

You can find win 7/8 copies on there as well, and then use that key to clean install windows 10 with.

Yes, it is 100% legal.

They also have had 20% off in the past, as well as some credit card companies also offer a rebate with them.

I heard kinguin.net sells win 7 licenses for $25-ish. I think they sell insurance for a nominal fee (~$1) to provide a working license in case the seller provides a used one.

For what it is worth, I know a few people that have gotten keys from kinguin, and they are still activated today, however, I just don't see how they are doing it. This is why the last time this was brought up, most people think this is some kind of huge gray area, and MS will eventually revoke the keys.

I just bought a legit copy at Best Buy. Doesn't get any more official than that.

Try to get them to reinstall Windows, might not get activated next time. I've had this happen on some of my boxes.

You can buy an OEM 8.1 license for 20 bucks on ******** and then do a free upgrade to 10 before June 2016 I believe. I wouldn't bother with a commercial $100 non OEM license tho. Not worth the money. If a machine I build/purchase has no OS, I would either install Linux or Android(Remix OS) rather than a stupid winblows that occasionally BSOD

I have not gotten a bsod since win 98 so stop using that os and upgrade.

This is why you use a CC and do a chargeback if it's not what was advertised.

windows 10 costs 100 dollars at least. windows 8 on the other hand have plenty of cheap keys floating around on online sites like ebay, g2a, ecrater because no one likes them.

I still prefer Linux. Most of the CS students in my classes dual boot either Linux or OS X alongside windows.

If your school offers some kind of msdnaa access Windows along with a lot of other Microsoft stuff (Visual Studio) is free. Although often they'll only give access to CS students and the likes. For everyone else there were ways to get it quite cheap IIRC.

At my University, CS and computer engineering students receive windows 10 license for free
The school store also sells some cheap discounted laptops too...
