Is there such a thing as a cell phone that can act as a regular phone?

This seems like such a good idea, but I've never seen one. Cell phones in the US already operate as dual or tri-mode for switching between analog and digital networks, so why not add a 900MHz mode? You walk into your house, you press a button, and suddenly your cell phone is interacting with a base station in your house instead of a cell tower. You could even build in a "listen" mode so that your cell phone would ring if someone called your cell number instead of your home number. What do you guys think?

yes, my mom and I used to have one. It's a cell phone with a base that sits at home. When you get home, flip a switch on the base and the phone then becomes a cordless. Kinda neat, but I haven't seen it in a long time. :(
