Is there something wrong with my LCD?

At that link, there is a gradient, that claims to have 256 steps between white and black. On my screen, I see 16 wide blocks, not a smooth gradient. I have a Samsung 205BW 19" LCD, hooked up via analog VGA to an Nvidia 6150-based mobo, using NV business platform reference drivers. I think they are 81.x or something. This is in Firefox 2.x.

I don't watch DVDs on this machine, but I've never noticed any banding before.

Does anyone else see just 16 blocks, or do you see a smooth gradient. Please let me know.

I just checked on my other PC, with a 22" Westinghouse, hooked up by analog VGA to a Radeon X1950-something, same thing. I only see 16 different bars.

It just says that the steps are evenly spaced between 0 and 255, not that there is one step for each gray level. The image is supposed to look like that.
