I don't know if you guys remember me telling you that I get a weird error message when booting up windows, with a c prompt and a bunch of gibberish, but do you think that the last few lines in the autoexec.bat could be causing it? I don't know what those symbols mean or maybe sysedit couldn't read them right or something.

the extra stuff after the last line looks wierd. i would delete it and see if that fixes your error messages. :)

A "true" windows machine does not need either an autoexec.bat or config.sys file to run properly!!!:)

Rebels7 is correct. The only time you need an autoexec.bat or config.sys is when you are trying to emulate a DOS platform for an old game and even then they are invoked only for that and removed when you boot back to Windows. If you have real mode drivers in them they can bring your system to a crawl.

No there is nothing wrong with it, other than actually having one. ;) Delete it man, free yourself from the DOS monster...

I haven't allowed any autoexec.bats or config.sys files in the past 4 years . . . since Win95 they serve no purpose at all unless you are a slave to DOS legacy junk.

Windows runs much better without either file . . . rename them to *.DOS and move on.

rename both config.sys and autoexec.bat to config.old and autoexec.old or something similar. Then reboot and windows should load drivers and you should be all set. If you have troubles...just rename both back to .sys .... but get rid of all that garbage... just leave your soundblaster lines

Mears,
You can do what raxafarian said or you can type "rem " without the quotation marks in front of the last four lines.

rem or a ; , space doesn't matter. But personally I'd cut/delete the garbage. Just open the file in Notepad and cut the junk out, then save the file.
