Is there something wrong if the goldfish's mouth turn black?

once I had a goldfish turn completely white after not feeding it for like two months... ick.

dogs, you WANT a black lip.. now with goldfish, I suggest you get a new one when your sister's away. 🙂

Goldfish occasionally change colors. Not all of them are gold or white, some are black.

Plus, it's a $0.10 fish. If it dies, you can get a new one.

First off welcome PigPig 😀

Like notfred posted, sometimes they change colors through their lifetime, it should be cool 🙂

I hate saying it, but it's probably got some kind of fungus. take a look at it, does it look rotten? Is it sticking above the flesh, or appear to be underneat it?

Dude, didn't you just get this fish?

PigPig is not a "dude".... She's my gf.... I finally convinced her to join the forums 😉

My sister got the fishy last week. Her friend gave it to her as birthday present!!
And that goldfish's scales are off!! (two pieces of scale, i think)
We knew nothing about goldfish~

The black thing appears above the flesh. Doesn't look like that it's rotten

My boyfriend and I are just waiting for it to die.......

I'd think that the goldfish has some fungus infection~ I used to work with koi a lot and it wasn't pretty when things like this happened... saw a LOT of open sores.

Sorry, I wasn't paying atatention, i just remember hearing about someone's sister getting a goldfish a few days ago. I just mean if youjust got it, and it's turning black, it probably had somehting that it got in the petstore. So check the signs I told you to look for. If it looks puffy or on top of the scales, it's probably a fungus, or mnouth rot. If it's under the scales, it may be the color of this fish.

What can i do for the fishy?

Feed it to a bigger, cooler fish that's actually worth keeping as a pet. Maybe an oscar or an arrowana or something.

go to a pet store and try to find an anti-fungus for your fish. They shoudl ahve somehting. Or just ask them at the counter and they can probably point somehting out to you. Until then, just keep the fish watm, in clean water, and well fed. It's health will help it fight the fungus...

Unless you are waiting for it to die... LOL
