Is there something addicting about forums?

I don't really like message boards, but they are an invaluable resource when it comes to help and instruction. I rarely call for help on a forum site because I fear people for flaming, so say we all *I believe*. This thread, four others, and Gamespot are addicting sites to go to. I don't know if it is just me but I'm going to these forums without a reason most of the time. I read stuff that I don't even care about and sometimes I don't feel like reading yet I'm looking and posting on the forum.

That's the nature of an online forum. No matter who you are or what you speak of, it gets instaneously viewed by hundreds of viewers and they also comment back to you.

That's the very core principal of the amusement that these online forums bring.

For me it's just the idea that I can come here, check the forums and things will always be different/updating. The activity at any hour is refreshing since I am a night owl.

Forums are a great place to get instant responses and feedback to basically whatever you want. They're also a watering hole for people with the same interests as you (AT for "geeks", let's say).

Forums are horrible to get responses imo. It's much quicker to just google something or hit an irc channel and get help. Forums are great source of random information, but if i need something, 9/10 it's much easier to just find it on my own.

if you are truly interested in that topic. You will want to learn as much as you can, and when you talk to other people about it. It becomes more fun.

compare it like this would you rather learn everything possible from a dictionary.
Or would you rather learn everything possible from people

WTF? I understood next to nothing from what OP was saying. Since none of you mentioned it, I gather that you didn't bother reading his gibberish

I, for one, just read the thread title.

/me looks at post count... Nah.

Wait...how come i've never noticed you before? :Q

There are two possible options:

1: You're a P&N regular (shudder), or Hot Deals regular (better)

2: You're Stefan, and you've changed your name again

There may be others, but they escape me right now ;)

Ok Kadarin, who are you? Where did you come from. 24k posts and I've missed every single one of them?

I like my theory of him being Stefan, but since i can't remember what Stefan last changed his name to, that's not much help
