Is there some kind of list for words used for letters on the phone?

When I'm copying down letters on the phone at work for model numbers or whatever, people always give me words to make sure I get the correct letter - like "V" as in "Vicky" and stuff. Is there some kind of list of common words or does everybody just make this up?

There should be! The military uses a system, but it is retarded once you get past 'G'.

Although, I actually like making them up on the fly, and making the people laugh.
