Is there some hack to run 3Dmark Vantage on XP?

Well, I have XP, and I love it. I refuse to install Vista. I will only move to Win7 when it comes out.

So, that being said, I suppose there is no way to run Vantage on XP? I know it's DX10 exclusive, but still, so was Crysis in Very High and then someone hacked to run it on XP and showed that was just a marketing stunt.

I wonder if this could be the case with Vantage?

Since when do I need a freaking specific reason for running a benchmark? Other than just curiosity, that is.

This is off topic, but why do you not like vista? Vista is very similiar to Win 7 so why would not just install vista? Vista gets too much crap, its a very functional, fast, and stable OS. I would never switch back to XP now that I am using vista.

You don't. I was just curious why people cared to install said crap on their computers, and if there was any reason other than e-peen stroking.

Ehh who cares what the guy thinks. He's just another Vista hater drone. Just let them go to W7.

You know, I'd been wondering if they ever came out with a newer version of 3Dmark.. I could've googled it sure, but I didn't quite care that much.. My level of caring was just enough to click on a thread here and type out this reply.

I do know that DX10 is for vista and up only, so if this vantage business is DX10 only.. well... there's yer answer.

FWIW, I haven't installed vista either.. don't really plan on it any time soon. Don't plan on moving to windows 7 either unless some ridiculously awesome application comes out that I would just DIE without.. I haven't spent enough time with vista to form a proper opinion of it, but in my old age (im 27 :p) I've sorta developed an "if it ain't broke, don't fuck with it cuz you'll just break it" mentality when it comes to my PC.. total opposite of the modder/tweaker/overclocker that I used to be.

Vantage was built completely around DX10. It uses DX10 functionality that simply doesn't exist in DX9 under XP and never will.

My only regret with going to vista x64 ultimate from xp pro x86 is that my old castle of the winds game (16 bit) doesn't work anymore. I have to play it on my netbook now with a USB 10-key.

Other then that, Vista is soooooo much more stable, faster and somewhat lightweight. Superfetch makes it so i don't feel like my HDD is keeping me back. (200GB Seagate Sata 1.5Gb)

What sort of an idiot would pay to learn a game? Can't this be done for free? Why not use that money on courses that cannot otherwise be obtained so easily?

3d Vantage is fairly buggy (in Vista64), imo for all the months since I've had it (for free courtesy of eVGA when you bought a card from them).
I've only been able to run it successfully at 20% .
I do try to use it every time I change my card driver, or I feel something is not up to the task (3d gaming).
