Is there some fat that just won't go away?

I've gone from about 5'8" 175 lbs to about 157 lbs in roughly 5 weeks through a combination of cutting carbs and excercising.

I'd still like to lose more fat, aprticularly around my waist so I'm aiming at 150 lbs.

I have a pocket of fat just under my navel that seems pretty persistent. Think I'll be able to get rid of it?

Yup, that's the hardest part to get rid off.

It's genetic. Your body is programmed to store fat there. It's the first place fat will go, and the last place it comes off. On me, I tried trimming down but I quickly hit a wall and started losing muscle while the fat stayed there. So I ate more and gained more muscle and just accepted that the fat isn't going away.

Yeah, genetics mostly determine where your body stores its fat...some people deposit a lot in one area, and others wear it more evenly about their figure. With guys, the stomach/love handles area is where a lot of it ends up, and as such its the hardest area to trim down. Just keep up what you're doing, and you'll keep noticing results, though they will get smaller and smaller with time.

And remember, having a certain amount of body fat is necessary for proper health and functioning. Anything at or below 15% and you're definitely fine. Just think about this: the average NBA player has a body fat percentage of something like 9-11%, and the average cross country olympian is around 6-7% (my current level). Having more or less fat just depends on what you're going to do with it, but so long as you're in the teens or low 20's you're healthy.

I'm 43 and am shooting for a body fat of about 15%. I figure this is reasonable for my age.

I've been running 5 miles/day before breakfast (about 8 minute miles) and doing light lifting, push ups and crunches. I don't have time to do much more.

I'll see where this regimen takes me.

I am 6'2" and I have gone from 210 to 200 pounds in one week just by running 2 miles 3 times in the past week and eating just a little bit healtheir. Instead of two 350 calorie burrito's for lunch i'll make myself a good sandwhich. Amazing because I don't feel like i've changed the way that I eat and I barely exercised more than the usual.

there is important fat around your heart, kidneys and eye balls... however, unless you are genetically predisposed to carrying fat right there you should be able to get rid of it.
