i just started to cut and i dunno if i should make the switch to brown

edit:
regarding to nutritional info. ie. does white rice contain the same complex carbs as brown

Is there really a difference between kuqdew, pocketsled, bladder23, deron222, Iknowenglish, DoubleROFL and puqdew? Not sure how you slipped by with 192 posts, including a link to browser hijacking gay porn (1 mo off that time) before we noticed that. Better late than never. -Admin DrPizza

Basmati or jasmine are your best bets. Basmati for savory dishes, jasmine for sweet.

Brown rice is generally cheaper. It is still tasty if you fry it.

Yes, big difference. Brown tastes way worse and people think they are eating "healthier."

Brown rice has more fiber. It also tastes better imo, but it's more difficult to cook properly.

White rice is processed to remove more of the rice kernel (in doing so more nutrients are also remove), while brown rice only has the outermost hull removed. Sort of like "white flour".

White bread is horrifyingly bad for you. While whole grain or more natural breads are still very, very bad for you - at least they have more fiber and nutrients. They actually have to "fortify" the white bleached stuff. That means add back in nutrients.

White rice isn't as bad (in that the processing makes so much sugar immediately available with so little work by the body in digestion as white flour does) but its certainly a less complex food to digest. I prefer stuff au natural these days so "brown rice" it is.

You know what fortify means right? They add in wood pulp to "fortify" the bread.

While I'm sure brown rice is healthier than white rice, I agree that it alone is not the basis of a healthy diet. I can't speak for the entire continent, but I'm pretty sure most of asia consumes white, not brown, rice. Not just east asia, but south asia too. And as far as I know, obesity isn't as much of a concern for asia as it is in the states.

According to the above possibly dubious source, perhaps its because the Asians think white rice is a sign of prosperity, while brown is for peasants. Paradoxically white rice is cheaper, because of higher demand.

I don't think that they think about its nutrition as much as "its cheap and tastes very good"

I'd love for someone to teach me how to cook brown rice properly some day because I can never stand the taste of it. Whole wheat pasta on the other hand is fucking delicious and incredibly filling.
