is there password protection on MS OUTLOOK?

Yes it is possible. I have not found a way to protect individual folders, but have for the whole file.

Here's what to do:
Open Outlook (I'm using XP, but it works the same in 2000)
If it's not displayed already, display your folder list. (View->Folder List)
The top folder in the list should say "Outlook Today - [Personal Folders]"
Right click on that folder and go to properties
From there, it is different on different versions. In XP, you find the advanced button and there is a password setting there. Once you password protect the file, if you forget the password, you're f*cked.

thanks for the tip...

i noticed however that my mail folders (i.e.:inbox, calendar, draft, journal, notes...etc) are NOT under "personal folder" but under "outlook today"

i right-clicked "outlook" today and checked on advance properties but did not find an option for adding password protection to the "outlook today" folders.

is it a simple matter of moving the folders from "outlook today" to "personal folder" and then password protecting "personal folder" ?

thanks.

Well on my mail box under Outlook 2000, connecting to an Exchange 5.5 server, when I right click on my mail box, and choose properties there is a tab for permissions. I haven't tried it, since I don't have time time to play around with adding user accounts to test that it works, but this appears to be the setting you are looking for.
