Is there only one maker of "spam"?

Never eaten spam or anything, but i'm doing a report that includes mention of spam and I just want to double check. Is SPAM a Hormel invention, and thus only manufactured by them?

There is the real spam...then tons of other variations, 'luncheon meat' that is in the same kind of can, etc..

The only "good" knockoff of SPAM I have found is at Walmart. Sells for $1.25.

Of course, if you hate SPAM there is no "good" category.

i've had a knockoff made from Holland and it tastes much better... more lean... very good when fried just a bit.
