Thank you. :)

Does a VM created with vmware player 7 still work ?
It is a windows xp virtual machine.

I read there is with vmware player 12 better support for graphics. I guess i need vmtools for that ?

Well, i upgraded to vmware player 12. And i should better have not. The vmtools were updated too. And now i have to start the vmtools service manually because it will not start. I have it set to start automatically but it does not do that. The virtual machine is a windows xp machine. Anybody else had this issue before ?

Well, it resolved it self. After starting the virtual machine, the vmtools service start after about a minute. I checked, i have it set to start automatically in system / administrative tools / services. And i have it set to try again after some failure.

I did notice that some thin print is not working.

It's there, just a little bit harder to find.

Perhaps remove player 7 and install fresh from 12?

Never had that issue with VMware Tools. But I can tell you trying to get Ubuntu Server LTS to works is a damn joke. Kept getting a kernel panic and it even said the OS disabled the damn CPU!

I need to try Virtualbox.

Was using VMPlayer for a few years and went through the normal upgrade path on VM's.
When they went to 12, I had some issues with virtual printers and sound drivers but overall, VM's I had for years were able to import cleanly.
