Is there more teacher-student relationships happening today?

Theres no way to know how many we had before. No evidence. It could be as high as 10 percent of the student population, and if everybody kept their mouths shut, or the school was able to shut everyone up, we'd never hear about these things.

when I was a freshman in college there was a chemistry teacher that was humping my brothers frieend. Everyone knew but not reported. This was back in 79. Everyone knew including teacher but they looked the other way.

In high school there was a catholic priest who was hitting on the girls at school. Nothing was done. The priest would c**k block you if he sees you talking to his girls. They are the worst

Principals girlfriend was a beautiful young teacher. She was mean to us even though we were 10x better looking than the principal. The prinicipal had money and power.

It seems like I see another headline almost everyday on fark

but they report from all over the world, and a lot of times they are reporting the same story two or three times.

In the past, people kept their private lives private. Now with everyone's business available online, its much easier for people to find out your secrets.

It's just easier to get caught (and easier to prove these days). Facebook, text message records, etc.

Right

I got in a fight in high school. Middle of the main hallway in between classes. There had to be at least 100 people that saw it. When a teacher finally made his way through the crowd, he grabbed me and pulled me into his classroom. He whips out a pen and paper and tells me to tell him everything. I played dumb and said nothing had happened. The other kid did the same thing. He pulled a couple other kids in and they all played dumb too. So nothing happened officially. I got in no trouble at all.

If that had happened today, there would be cell phone video, facebook posts and God knows what other evidence. I would have been suspended for sure and with the pussification of our schools, I probably would have gotten an assault charge even though I was defending my girlfriend from a grabby dude.

Times change. I think for the worse. Those changing say for the better. Who knows.

Back in the dinosaur years, when I was in high school, one of my fellow cheerleaders was getting stalked by the HS biology teacher. She fought him off for a while, but then she was expecting twins, so she married him. They're still happily married.

If this happened today it'd be much more public. We cheerleaders knew all the details, but it was just small town gossip it wasn't in the news and nothing happened except twins. So Ill say it's because of cell phones and all the reports of other similar things that we read about all the time.

Well..the story linked in the OP's post - guess the kid wanted nothing more to do with the teacher so he took the next step and told the authorities. She probably had delusions of "we'll live together forever once you're out of high school" - and he probably just wanted a fling until he graduated.

I think if the teacher gets the book thrown at her - so should the student since he willingly slept with her numerous times.

On that note - if a hot [female] teacher hit on me back in my high school days - you bet your ass I would keep that relationship secret and going as long as possible. :)

People are looking younger as they age today, so yes, it is happening more. Someone in their mid-40's used to look like someone in their late 50's 40 years ago.

I'm not sure if it's increased or decreased. What's definitely increased is how quickly many gossipy stories rise to the national level. What would have only been known in a small town, and even may have been reported in a small town newspaper is now picked up by 1000's of online blogs, etc.

more getting caught is more likely the case.

This.

I was in high school in the mid-80s and the rumor was that the freshman English teacher was doing the football team. Most of the teacher/student "liaisons" we hear about today seem to be female teachers with male students; back in my day, you'd probably get a high five for banging the hot teacher and that would be the end of it. Now, it is newsworthy and trust me, those teenage boys aren't "scarred" in most cases.
