Is there life after 1080p...?

Obviously it will one day become "flawed" and have to be replaced:evil:

Frankly, we are at a stage indevelopment where more seemz frivilous and even incomprehensible....ie when DVD first came out.

What do you think the futures hold with respect to higher-definition content transmission and distribution?

when you can't tell the difference between TV and the real thing, resolution will no longer need to improve. it will need to be better than film to achieve that, though, and we aren't even close to film yet. as for distribution, despite what us internet junkies would like to believe, i think we're still a long way off from internet-based distribution because so few americans have broadband. look for video on demand to increase, though, since the servers for it could easily be converted into internet-based streamers in the future.

i love how they keep coming out with these new "better" things yet 80% of the world is still useing a normal tube tv

There are already resolution standards far in excess of current HD.

My guess is it will be a long, long time before we see them in anything except high end digital projection (read: digital theater).

The general public has been extremely slow to embrace current HD sets, let alone 1080P and there still is no (common) HD distribution format.

that's what has always been said

Whenever this is accomplished, we should figure out a way to make our eyes better, so the TV people will have something to do with all their time.

It will have to be 3d tv. You have to sit so ridiculously close to your tv to fully resolve 1080p that there really is no point in going any higher.

I don't want to see bad skin and weak props any closer than I already do, actually. Give me better content any day.

Damn skippy. I just can't justify dropping several grand on a TV. Personally it looks the same to me.

Well they have those HD2k and the HD4k projectors that are used in theaters I guess if you had a 30 to 100k to burn you could get one of those..
