just had a big server failure luckly i had recently done backups, but is there a program I can run that will automatically download the latest changes to a website and database (my server doesn't do this)?

Are you leasing the server or is it your own? I think cPanel might allow you to do this IIRC.

Just about any control panel should let you do this.

I use DirectAdmin and have all my sites backed up to FTP.
