Not at the moment AFAIK, you prolly could get hold of that cr@ppy Doom III alpha but I personally wouldn't bother.

The DOOM 3 leaked demo has been out for a long time though it is not supposed to be public.

It's pretty amazing but it's an Alpha and extremely buggy. It's cool for a sneak peak but thats about it. There's really not much to actually play. The one thing that is outstanding is the rediculous hardware requirements for it. I ran it on a 2.66ghz P4, Radeon 9700, 1gig DDR 3000 and I'd still run around 30fps and drop to 15-20 at times. I'm sure the final release will be more optimized though and made to support lesser machines.

As for HL2, the only thing publicly available is the video clips (captured from a camcorder filming a monitor). They are pretty crappy lookin but it gives you a good idea of what the game looks like and plays like. Even thru a terrible recording and compressed MPEG, you can still tell that the game will be graphically amazing and and gameplay looks fantastic. I never preorder games but I think thats one I wouldn't mind preordering.

why would you want to play a demo of these two. I understand games that you may want to check out where your not sure but these are sure bets.

I'm not looking at any vid's pics or demos or anything about these two but when I'll load them for the first time of top of the line system with surround sound, then I'll be happy, it will give new meaning to shock and awe : )

actually i want to know the requirement of both games.
i know both are still under construction ... but i heard DOOMIII needs alot of resources. like dakels said.

Honestly i don't have a very powerful or even a powerful machine. I just have one that is good for browsing. I like playing games, however, i wouldn't spend too much money on it though. Poor me poor me.

i saw both trailers(i really want to see HL2's 500videoclip. but i am not a fileplanet subscriber, so....)

both clips are so amazing....

hey, remember Wolf3D? ( mean the one 8 years ago...)
then doom1, doom2, quake, quake2, quake3, now DOOM III

I also wondering what will it look when it comes to CounterStrike (Counterstrike 2, maybe). I know there is still a long way. may be one or two more years until it actually hit the shelf. but it won't hurt thinking.

thanks

I remember when the D3 alpha got leaked, my friend and i ran around frantically on the net trying to find it (iRC, newsgroups, secret forums, direct connect, etc..) and for about 2 days came up with nothing, until we FINALLY got ahold of a copy...

we burned that thing like nobody's business and were running it the next evening on our respective machines.

[too bad its all over kazaa now, that makes it too easy... cheaters!]

it actually sometimes runs pretty decent on my machine.

i have an XP 1800+ @ 217*8.5 for like 1840mhz
512MB Corsair pc3200 @434mhz, 6-3-3-cas2
Leadtek GF4 Ti4200@ 320/590

not bad, not bad at all. frame rate cuts off completely pretty often though when many baddies get up in your face, heheh...

after seeing the NEW E3 video, I reinstalled the alpha again (its a hefty 1+ GB for a 3-level alpha) to have some pre-release joy...

meh, ive run it at a better rate... im having this problem lately where the system locks up every minute or so, then comes back about 10 seconds later. Happens in every game I run now :( not sure what the issue is, but i just switched Nvidia drivers so maybe itll help?

Personally I ain't gonna get high expectations on either. Maybe if I don't high hopes for them they will own. I learned my lesson with Unreal II. I thought for sure it would own but instead it disappointed me. It wasn't totally crap its just that I expected alot more.

I did feel the same about both of 'em but after watching the 600Mb HL2 demo I can't wait for it to come out, I was literally grinning like a cheshire cat the whole way though!

I'm still not particularly fussed about Doom 3, it just looks like a pretty shooter, nothing more.

I'm with NicColt on this one. I'm going to wait until I have the retail copies in my hand before I look at anything about these 2. I want to make sure my first taste of these games will be nothing short of spectacular.

watching the 600mb demo? Can this be got on a website or is it deeper? Maybe after I see it I will change my opinion. As for Doom 3 I tried the Alpha which was very buggy but I have to say and it not even close to being finished it is the best looking PC game I have seen to date. But Unreal II looks sweet to but the story has to deliver it can't just look pretty.

the one thing you need to remember with the alpha and even with betas is that the final release will usually be much more streamlined then an early beta and especially an alpha. My test rig is fairly top of the line for a current games. I can't imagine that they would set it so where my system would barely run the final release. That would mean anybody with less then a P4 2.66/1 gig DDR 3000/R9700/Audigy 2 Plat would be in very bad shape to run the game.... that would exclude 90%+ of the gaming population. I'm sure they'll probably cater to more like an athlon 1600/512mb/4200 Ti recommended crowd so it runs well on their systems.

Search Off Topic for the HL2 video. There are a couple mirror's and bittorrent links.

I downloaded the HL2 video from Fileshack (you need to register first but its free). Well worth getting hold of.

Try getting a Fileplanet account from Gamespy. I got my demo downloaded this morning and it's a free account.
The connection was pretty good too. It's a pretty wicked demo. You can find other demos there on HL2 as well or DoomIII or whatever.

Edit: These are just *video* demos, not playable demos though. I don't expect to see a playable demo until after they're out, unlike previous games like
UT2K3, RTCW, or even Duke3D (heh).

There is a leak Alpha of Doom3... but it probably wouldn't even install on your computer, let alone play.

The Alpha leak of Doom 3 just lets you have a crappy preview of whats to come. Its bug city but gives you the idea. Also you have to manual change the maps in the console. I wonder how long it will be till the HL2 playable demo is leaked :D? It will be leaked I know it. Unreal II,UT2003 and Doom III was leaked and all 3 was on alot of ppl's wanted list as HL2 is.

From the looks of the E3 preview if it is leaked it looks more than a alpha version.

You no longer need to be a subscriber to get the half life2 demo through fileplanet.

It's very impressive. It's cool in that it is not just a video of the game , it appears to be a video taken during a press or game developer's briefing where various technical aspects of the game are described and demonstrated.
makes me anxious for and appreciate the game even more.
