Is there anyway to upgrade a palm from os 4 to os 5?

a buddy of mine bought 2 handhelds, they are both sony's and one is on os 4 and the other is on os 5. Is there anyway for him to upgrade the one that is on os 4 to os 5?

I believe if I remember correctly, the OS is on flash.

No. OS 5 uses a completly different CPU than OS 4 does. You can't upgrade.

OS 4 is based on a Dragonball EZ proc, OS 5 is based on the ARM.

The OS4 one is chuffing along on a Dragonball processor at either 33 or 66mhz depending on the model.
The OS5 one blasts by with a 200mhz ARM chip. OS5 is optimized for the ARM processor only.
