Is there anyway to make Winamp not "hiccup" between tracks?

When it's continuous music over more than 1 track, it's really annoying to hear that pause, break, hiccup, whatever you wanna call it.

good choice then...I had some issues with three kinda like that, but I'm a former user of 2.91 who liked it very much. I currently use 5 though and i'm just as pleased with it as 2.91. But as coldcut said, if your hardware is a bit on the low side, that may be causing it.

reduce the buffer length... songs will load faster then. i know exactly what you're talking about :(, but reducing the buffer helped in my situation. However you might get occasional hiccups if you defrag while you're playing music or something ;)

It was posted in a link here on OT. It wasnt the final version, just a leaked one...I'll see if I can find the link, but no promises.

I think there are cross-fading plugins for 2.x. You can probably set the length of the cross-fading to 0. Should have the desired effect.

I have 512 MB of RAM, 2.0 GHz P4...Winamp really needn't be using more than that.

Anyway, as for the "fade" plugins...i don't want it to fade...that would be just as bad as the problem I'm having. I wan't it to go straight through, they way it does on any actual cd player.

Hmmm....that should definitely be more than what you need to run it. I mean, mine will "hiccup" when I try to load a large program, but it hardly ever happens. I dont know what to say here. Good Luck, though...

I know what you mean, I've tried to figure this out with 2.91 also :( I hate it when there's a pause in between tracks of my radiohead shows.

MP3s by design can not be gapless. Give up now; it's impossible.
Ogg Vorbis, Musepack, and lossless formats on the other hand.....

It's not Mp3s, it's a CD.

Yes it is MP3's. Gapless is one reason I use Ogg Vorbis. I don't like having to merge let's say the Abbey Road Medley into one track because there's a hiccup in-between mp3's. Ogg Vorbis lets me keep them all as seperate tracks.

No fanerman91,

what johnjohn320 means is that the hiccup happens when he is playing a cd.

I am aware of the problem as well. One of the reasons I do not use Winamp. I cannot tell you any fixes.... Sorry about that. :(
