Is there anyway to make an old S370 to Slot-1 Adaptor work with FC-PGA?

I have an old Asus S370 slocket thing that I got about 2 years ago. I have a PPGA 433MHz Celeron in it right now, with an Asus P3BF (440BX). Will Celeron II's work in my current slocket? Or do I need a new slocket?

Thanks.

Nope. A Celeron II will not work with that slocket and will not work with any other FCPGA slocket. The Celeron II is a Tulatin chip and will not natively work with a BX board. The only thing available is a converter from Powerleap - PL-iP3 that may work with your mobo. This is the only thing available, but the caveat here is that you can kiss overclocking good bye as it will not allow voltage adjustments.

You may be better off picking up a PIII700 and running it at 933. This should be a sure bet with a cDo or even cCo stepping. There are also many other compatable, cheap and fast Intel options for the BX boards.

There is no such thing as a Celeron II. When someone mentions Celeron II, they are usually referring to the FC-PGA versions as compared to the PPGA versions. The new 1.2 GHz Celerons are called Tualerons or Cerertins (unofficially)

You need a FC-PGA capable slocket if you want to run a C533A - C1100 in a BX board.

to make it clear,
cheap FC-PGA slotket for Celeron II,
expensive powerleap FC-PGA2 slotket for Celeron III.

Your slocket should work already. If you want a P3 and a Celeron faster than 1.1GHz you need the new PowerLeap slocket...:)

no.
the original slotket is only for PPGA Celeron.
2nd gen slotket is for FCPGA P3 and Celeron.
3rd gen slotket is for FCPGA2 P3 and Celeron.

there is a way to hack a celeron I slotket to work with fcpga celeron. :) it required u to connect 2 pin on the soltket also have to ground
one pin on cpu itself. 10.00 pc-pga soltket seem to be better solution.

Silly things are getting hard to find, too. Just ordered a retail 1gig celly and generic adapter from these guys-

vendor

A little steep on shipping, but I couldn't find many vendors who have both the processor and adapter....

Love that three year warranty and quiet fan. Some of the brand-name adapters can still be found, if you think that $27 isn't too much for one that sez Asus...

I just upgraded a BH6 with a new slotket and 1 Gig celery chip. I love it. Compared to my old 300a/450 rig its fast. I agree that you should buy a new $8 slotket. I bought mine from Buy.com. It and a 1 Gig celeron shipped is less than $100. A great upgrade for a BX board. I popper in a GTS-V video card and things are moving much more quickly than before.

Looks just like the one I used recently, and you're right, there's no voltage adjustment. Soltekusa offers ones with voltage and fsb adjustments, also a robust retaining mechanism.

I have been given to believe that the slockets that allow voltage and FSB adjustments still require the motherboard to support those adjustments; that is, if the adjustments aren't available on the motherboard, they don't work on the slocket. Incidentally, I run C667 on a BX (Tyan1854) board with an MSI slocket at 1000MHz.

You are correct, The Slockets do not adjust voltage, the motherboard does. The Slocket merely sends a signal to the motherboard and tells it what voltage to use. The motherboard must be able to support the needed Vcore.
