Is there anyway to install MS Windows XP Remote Desktop Client on say a usb key drive. I mean, on installation, does it place files in many directories and the registry, or can it be run autnomously off the drive and that drive alone?
 
Are you saying that you want to install the actual software on another drive, such as the usb key? Well technically you can but I'm sure there are registry keys or files that get installed or are referenced as well, so if you try to run it on another computer it probably wouldn't work.
 
yes, there are registry settings for remote desktop client (search RDP or mstsc.exe in the registry).
