Is there anyway overclocking a V3 3k could effect a modem connection?

A guy I race with online says that after he overclocked his V3 his pings went from the 200-300ms range to 400-500ms. The only thing he did was o/c his V3. I doubted that there was any correlation but you never know. Whaddaya think??

 
It's not possible.

What probably happened was the ISP having trouble or something, or maybe his phone lines took some damage. There are many possibilities and if all he did was OC his V3, I doubt it was his fault.
