Is there anyway I can find out when my OS has been installed?

look in your add remove programs, you could try and find something you installed on the day you installed XP.

It's more reliable to use systeminfo. Windows files can be replaced by security updates, etc. Start->run cmd, then type systeminfo and press enter.

Thanks man..

SetupAPI.log in c:\windows (or c:\winnt) is another good source..... look at the first few lines.

For me that shows August, but I installed in April (as confirmed by systeminfo).

Sorry; I meant setuplog.txt. Setupapi.log shows SP installation. 🙂

This is certainly the best way.

Why?

(setuplog.txt won't be replaced by a security update.... it's the logfile that shows when and how Windows installed your OS - plus any additional hardware or changes since then. Look at it to see what it really is. It's very handy.)
