Is there anything wrong about going to sleep with a full stomach?

Are there any negative results by going to sleep with a full stomach? I usually eat a large dinner "late", around 8:00 PM, and go to sleep at about 11:00 but of course I manage to keep my stomach busy during those three hours by eating a fruit/snack once in a while.

Any thoughts?

you get fat faster but you stay warmer when you are asleep. Because your body is using little energy when you sleep, all of that energy is stored as fat.

while you sleep your digestive system works slower than if you were active. so it is possible that you may gain some weight. personally i do this all the time and i'm still underweight. but my metabolism is just way too fast. :)

Depends... I've heard that if you sleep right after a meal, your metabolism basically eats up all the food... instead of burning it during normal activity, it all gets converted to fat.

i think one is more inclined to sleep when full anyway, some chemicals released to the brain? or something. but nothing 'bad' about it, unless you wanted to lose weight. on that note your dinners should be light, and breakfast should be the meal that the fat should be in, if need be, that is.

eating at 8pm is not late, unless you sleep at 10pm. should gap should be about 4 hrs between dinner and sleep, i think. me, i've had years where i'd eat at 9:30PM. If anything 8 to 8:30 sounds average to me.

My stomach always growls like a tiger in heat whenever I go to bed after eating something. Sometimes I hate my fast metabolism.

Well yeah there is if you're Hannibal Lecter. "Oh man I'm full. I think I'll just fluff up this leftover full stomach here, stretch out on these soft intestines and see YOU in the morning.

Actually I think there isn't really anything wrong with eating something before you go to sleep. Since in a full night's sleep one will burn about 500 calories or so, maybe eating some protein and carbs will do you good. I usually drink a glass of water and a protein bar before I go to sleep. Of course everyone is different and maybe I just have a more active metabolism.

Well, there's been studies where people simply stopped eating anything at all after 5PM and lost weight just from doing that.

Arggg... I should be sleeping right now. Actually I should have gone to sleep a while ago but so much school crap to do.
Well I'm not afraid of gaining weight, in fact I am trying to gain pounds.. yes am working out and eating right but damn my fast metabolism. I was simply wondering if going to sleep w/ full stomach would have any other effects besides converting food into fat but guess not.

you SHOULD eat 5-6 small meals a day (small portion of protein/carb/tiny bit of fat), every 3 hours. i usually eat 30-60 minutes before i sleep, usually an apple and a little bit of cottage cheese.

body for life anyone?

That's what happens when you eat less.

I really don't think that the time you eat at makes a difference.
In fact, I could argue that going to bed on a full stomach might actually increase your metabolism when you sleep. But I won't, because it's irrelevant. 2000 calories is 2000 calories no matter what. The energy will be used. If you ate all 2000 calories in one meal right before bed, and then ate nothing else during the day, assuming that you use 2000 calories a day, I guarantee that there is no way you would get fat. Even if your body turned all 2000 calories into fat, it would have to convert it back from fat for energy. In fact, converting fat to energy takes a bit of energy, so if all 2000 of your calories were converted to fat, you might actually end up having to take out 2050 calories from your fat reserves throughout the day.

Clearly the issue is how much you eat, not when you eat.
