Is there anything worth visiting in New Mexico?

A friend is heading out that way, and thinking of making a kind of road trip out of it... is there anything interesting in the area? Specifically, near Albuquerque.

Thanks.

Not real close to Albuquerque, but scouring the Roswell area for UFO parts could be loads of fun. 😕

I went to Cimarron(?) and it was quite beautiful. There is a Boy Scout ranch called Philmont there and hundreds of miles of great hiking.

Also, there is a ring of trees that have been there for X amount of years that the indians? or inhabitants said that when all the trees fell the world would end. As of 1992 (last time I was there), I think 5 of the 12 trees had fallen.

Well right in Albuquerque is the TRAMWAY its the worlds largest tram, it is very cool and there are some Restaurants be sure to take your camera, and an hour north is Santa Fe it has a lot to offer BTW Im from Santa Fe.
Now if I were you I would drive a few hours and hit Carlsbad Caverns it Kicks A$$. So use Google the are very cool places all over the US.Tramway

I was born in Albuquerque and I do not care much. for the state of New Mexico. Good thing my parents got me to Texas ASAP!

Anyhow, there are some good eats to be found in Albuquerque but I really would not say that there is much to do. There is some craft and food type place near downtown, but I can not recall what it is called.
As somebody else mentioned what would be worthwhile is to head on up to Santa Fe. That is a real neat little city just to hang out in for a day or so.

Road trips are awesome and I think it would be worthwhile to stop in Albuquerque for some grub, as long as you made that just part of the trip to Santa Fe.

How about heading towards Colorado Springs. There are alot of cool things to do including teh Pikes Peak cog railway(it was snowing up there in July) and many other things are possible to do around there.
